It May Feel Cooler Around Your Windows
This is a common problem with older windows. It can be uncomfortable and can cost you in heating and cooling due to excess air leaking through the windows. The good news is a lot of today's windows are Energy Star certified and are specifically designed to filter UV light. You can check out what is best for your specific needs.
Your Windows May Not Open Properly
If this is the case, it's not only an inconvenience, but it can also be a safety concern. If your windows are hard to open or won't open at all this can be an issue in case of fire or any other reason where you would need to use a window to get out of your home. This shows that something is broken or warped and is in need of replacing.
You See Fog Between The Glass
Fog between the glass panes is caused by seal failure. This is not condensation on the inside of your windows, which can be a common moisture issue. When you have seal failure, which happens in older windows over time, you need to replace your them because they are less energy efficient.
How Does Double Pane Work?
Double pane windows, also known as dual-pane windows, have two panes of glass. Many with argon gas in the gap between the panes. This gap acts as a sound barrier and can help improve energy efficiency in your home. There is also an upgrade to triple pane, with three panes of glass. Both the double and triple pane can be ordered with grid patterns and blinds in between the glass. Being in between the glass helps the grids and blinds be protected from dust and damage. Another option is an invisible Low-E coating that can be applied to the glass to reflect UV rays, which improves energy efficiency and keeps your home comfortable year round.
